How bad is Saphris for your blood sugars?

Recommended Posts

I've had Type 1 diabetes since I was 3, so I know how to control my blood sugars and what not. When I was on Risperdal, Abilify, Seroquel, and Geodon, it didn't affect my blood sugars too badly (I was able to just start giving a little more insulin and it worked out). However, Saphris is killing me (almost literally). My blood sugars are sky high for no reason. Does anyone know any reason why this med makes them higher than other meds have? I can easily adjust my insulin, but I'd still like to know why this is.

Antipyschotics as a group, and atypicals in particular, are known to cause blood glucose dysregulation. The only reason I can think of for this is insulin resistance (which they're known for increasing).
