remedy48
Does trazodone have any sedative properties to it. I know it's an antidepressant.
Duelist
Yes it does at 100-300 mgs, I take 200 mgs at bedtime now and it really helps me sleep better.
r.mcmurphy
yes and no for me . it worked as a sleeper 22 years ago but now when it is tried by me it has no efficacy . the brain's soup changes i suppose .
cairn
Used it as a sleeper a few times. Works good and doesn't have the dependence problems 'pams do. It's individual of course, but if you've been suggested it for sleep I'd try it. Not addictive the same way benzo's can be.
remedy48
Well I'm just wondering whether it would be a good add on to the wellbutrin that I'm on.
remedy48
Can this antidepressant be started on 100-300mg or do you have to work your way up to the dose?
Duelist
I take it with wellbutrin, and I think I went at 50 the first week and then 100 the second week, I can't remember it's been years...Are you looking for help sleeping or as an AD add on to wellbutrin? I think it helps as an AD at 200-300 mgs, or it did for me.

Cetkat
Can this antidepressant be started on 100-300mg or do you have to work your way up to the dose? Don't know about 300mg, but I've always started at 100mg - so that's a definite yes.
remedy48
As a sleeping aid. I'm actually probably going to get off wellbutrin.
sorrel
100mg is a common dose for sleep, and you do not have to build up to it. It will not act as an antidepressant at all at that dose.
Altercate
I took 100mg for a time to help me sleep, but I was so sensitive to it that I didn't sleep at all the first night I was off. I also woke up in the morning feeling drowsy and stupid.

remedy48
Well my pdoc upped the dose of seroquel from 200mg to 400mg and said to stay on wellbutrin 150mg. So I won't be going on trazodone since I'm getting tired from the seroquel now.
Secret
Even though you're not on trazodone anymore, here's my comment. :< I was prescribed trazodone yesterday. Took it last night. It's 50mg and I felt super sleepy, or it was just my brain being dumb
