mysterri
Which drug do you think would cause my normally abnormal premenopausal menstrual cycle to go on and on and on. Abilify or Topamax? Both are new to me. The only other drug that ever did this to me was Wellbutrin and that happened forever ago. Oh joy, TS
wifezilla
How old are you? I might not be the drugs (or just the drugs). I am about to turn 42 and got to have 2 periods in July 2 weeks apart. I am usually as regular as clock work. A couple of girl friends my age are having the same problem. One had a period last 3 weeks. Whatever is causing it, it sucks. I would ask the doc at your next appointment.
NARS
For a couple of years I thought I was getting perimenopausal in my early 40s, but it turned out Depakote was screwing with my whole endocrine system. Even my insulin was off. I've now been off Depakote since early May, and my period is back to what it was before Depakote. Actually it's a little better, because I now use progesterone, which I was always low on because of PCOS. I'd actually gotten desperate enough to use injections of progesterone to regulate my period, but since the medication change can just use the transdermal cream for the same effect. I'm back to regular cycles, a little long, but much less traumatic than what I ever had before. Anyhow, check the PI sheets on Topamax and Abilify and see if they document any menstrual irregularities. Side effects like that are usually buried in a chart deep in the PI sheet. Good luck!
