dollface
This is a strange question, but does fasting bring on seizures? I wasnt feeling well last week, stomach problems, and didnt eat for a day. I took my lamictal doses but when I ate something at night I started getting seizures again. The doc said it had nothing to do with not eating, but since I was seizure free for a month I just dont agree with him. Did anyone have this problem? dollface
dollface
Low blood sugar and fucked up electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, et cetera) can cause seizures. So can dehydration. All these can be caused by not eating. Kassiane <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks Kassiane, no more fasting for me! Oh yeah, I jinx myself, just when I thought no more seizures, had another one tonight. Still scary for me dollface
MoparGuy1991
I thought I read that fasting had an anticonvulsant effect.
gretl
I thought I read that fasting had an anticonvulsant effect. Never heard of that one. Let me know if you find where you read it. It definitely has the opposite effect on my daughter. And everyone else in my extended family (especially my husband and his family) gets moody and irrational when their blood sugar gets low so it sure as hell doesn't have a MOOD STABILIZER effect, LOL!
