I know I've written on here before about trying to get off Zyprexa, and everyone else seems to have not had the same problems I've had. I was originally supposed to be on it just for an acute problem, I had a panic attack because my Lithium levels were too low. I never thought I'd be stuck on this. I went on 2.5mg, then tried to get off and wound up on 5mg, and I've tried different things to get off and nothing seems to work. I know the thought is generally that it's "my illness showing itself" but really and truly it was just to get back up to a good lithium level after lowering it to see if that was causing my stomach problems, which it was. I went on generic capsules and everything was fine. But now I'm stuck on drugs that make me severely tired and withdrawn, and I'm getting really depressed. I guess I just don't know exactly what to do to get off of this and fix my problem, I'm going to try to see a different psychiatrist for a second opinion but I can't see any way out but to get off this, unless some kind of substitution would work, but that would make me more tired. I guess I just don't see a way out and to keep my job.

I've had depression-like symptoms associated with taking Zyprexa. When I tried to cut it out, I started to get hypomanic. Eventually, my pdoc and I realized that I needed more Zyprexa on some nights than others. My doc has me take 10mg at night if I was up mood-wise that day, and 5mg if I was normal or low that day. I've heard of people taking doses every other day, too.

What is your diagnosis btw, and you said the Zyprexa was for panic attacks? What happened when you went off the Zyprexa?

How long have you stayed at the zyprexa dose (or stoppedit) until you couldn't take it and went back on?

I believe the last post you wrote about this, a few people warned you that you may just have to quit the zyprexa and put up with the side effects for a couple of weeks. You could always ask your pdoc for something to help get you through the withdrawal effects.

Also, you should have new medication in place to deal with your emerging emotions. A talk with the pdoc (with agenda in hand) might be good right about now.
