bluesme
I tried 25 mg of seroquel last night with the hopes it would allow me to sleep more than a few hours. I got drowsy - but did not sleep, Took another 25 mg. a couple hours later - nothing. Finally couple hours later I took 1 mg of xanax and got 4 hours of sleep. I don't know if anyone else has this experience? I certainly did NOT expect to be awake almost all night after taking the Seroquel.
tryp
To be honest, 25 mg of Seroquel doesn't really do much for me. I don't really sleep until around 150 mg. YMMV. I'm pretty hard to sedate.
bluesme
Thanks for your reply Tryp. I am SOOO exhausted ! Doc said to take 1 - 2 (25 mg.) - I was REALLY hoping it would work. I wonder if I should just try 50 mg. tonight? I have not had any really "good" sleep for like 3 months now. I was hoping to ditch the xanax at night and use Seroquel because I know I've become dependent on xanax and don't like to be. I'm really starting to "lose" it if you know what I mean. I keep wondering thinking do I need to go to the hospital? Am I that screwed up? I actually was praying that I would just fall asleep and not ever wake up. At this point I don't know what to do - should I take 50 mg. tonight or not, ugh!
bluesme
What time do you take your Seroquel at night and what is your dosage for sleep? How long does it take you to fall asleep - apx. Took 25 mg. last night and it did nothing. I am beyond exhausted - and desperate for help.
seamonkey
I take 50mgs at 5:30 and I'm usually able to sleep by 9, but I'm also taking it with klonopin and geodon
snoozzinsuz2
my doc had me on 50-- was getting really good sleep. when we upped my lamictal starting more mood swings so she lowered seroquel to 25 to see if it would balance the upped lamictal (which was started for sleep initially). She told me if I took the 25 and wasn't starting to feel groggy in an hour to take another 25-- now I judge my night dosage based on how up or down I was during the day--- up days get 50 down days get 25. seems to be working pretty well (but a pain in the ass to keep track of for my next appt ) hope that helps. SashaSue
I don't see why you wouldn't try the 50mg tonight?
bluesme
I'm going to. This is all really starting to freak me out. I'll try the 50 mg. tonight.
lluvia_z
I found 100 mg was ideal for insomnia. I'd fall asleep 45 min later. I found that if that didn't do it, nothing would until I addressed the underlying cause, in my case, mania. --lluv
tryp
When I started Seroquel, my pdoc gave me a prescription for 200 mg a night and told me to start at 50 and keep trying higher doses until I fell asleep. 150 mg is my sweet spot. I love my seroquel
snoozzinsuz2
I took 50 and a Xanax one afternoon to knock me out in order to keep from hurting myself-- worked like a charm. I say try that until you can get in to see the pdoc-- if you can't get in call and see what they say-- I know my pdoc is awesome and will help me over the phone until she can get me in. stable not balanced
do you still get weight gain on a lower dose (25, 50)? what about 200mg? i guess i am asking if the lower the dose, the less chance for weight gain and at what dose does weight gain start becoming a problem? Eden
when i was on it i started at 100, didnt quite do it, settled at 150 for about a month, moved to 200, eventually 250... 300... at 300 i wasnt going any further so i started supplementing klonopin eventually that stopped working but thats another story, the point is different levels work for different people, i cant imagine 25 or 50 doing anything at all and stable, i never had weight gain
girl_interrupted
I take 300mg seroquel xr. I was sleeping around 50mg-100mg but it wasn't enough for my bipolar. So my Pdoc has added 50mg seroquel PRN for when I'm not sleeping well or klonopin PRN but prefers seroquel.
girl_interrupted
Try the 50mg, I have found it's taken that and 300mg of seroquel xr to help me sleep. I take the 50mg PRN, it takes a lot to knock me out. Hopefully you get some rest.
jess19
I started out at 150 mg and it knocked me out immediately but the food cravings and the hungover feeling the next day were driving me even crazier. I am at 50 mg now and that seems to work unless somethng is creating immediate anxiety (dog making a mess, husband) when that happens I take 1 mg of xanax with it and I sleep like a baby. I love my seroquel. I hate that I do depend on something so much for sleep. Oh how I remember when I could fall asleep easily and for days..... Quack
When I started Seroquel, my pdoc gave me a prescription for 200 mg a night and told me to start at 50 and keep trying higher doses until I fell asleep. 150 mg is my sweet spot. I love my seroquel Same here. 50 pretty much knocked me out straight away. I'm stalled on 100 now. It usually only takes 15-20mins for me to be out. Bit longer now.
