Here is a video from the FDA Patient Safety News about Muscle Injury related to Zocor and other statins (used for high cholesterol).

Many people may know the information already in the video, but I wanted to share the information for those who may not know.

Good information to be aware of if you are on a statin, considering the use of a statin, or know someone who's on one.

The standard of care is to test creatine kinase regularly while on statins, along with a liver function panel. The CK test can show if muscles have been injured. If so the statin is stopped and the muscles heal. Early detection is key here for this infrequent side effect.
