Topamax (benifits for seizures and bipolar disorder)

I know one other benefit of Topamax is weight. I've read somewhere that it can help blood surgar to an extent. But what other unknown/hidden benefits of Topamax exist?

I used it for migraine prevention. It's practically saved my life from debilitating migraines.

Why on earth do you need to know? Are you wanting to switch to topamax now?

I'm already on Topamax. I just wanted to know if there were any other added benefits I was getting from taking it besides what I already knew.

Apparently it's also being looked at for alcoholism.

It's helpful for a lot of symptoms related to impulse control and temporal lobe dysfunction. I you can't tell if it's doing anything for you or not, it's probably not doing anything.

I take it for tics, to drink less, and to help with general executive functioning deficits.

You shouldn't have to ask other people what effects a med you are currently taking has on you. If you can't tell, you likely don't need it.

If your insight is so poor that you can't tell what positive effect any med has on you and can only detect side effects, you should probably leave all medication decisions up to someone else entirely.
