Moody
So my pdoc gave me neurontin. 100mg 3 times a day. I am diagnosed with bipolar II, and am currently taking remeron and klonopin. I took the first pill last night, and woke up this morning in a good mood. I also feel very alert and kind of jittery. This past week I have been feeling very tired and kind of depressed, so this is a change. In the past, when I have had sudden good moods after taking just one or two pills, it turned into hypomania and was not good. Not always, but enough times that it worries me. Can you get hypomania from neurontin? Or could this be a temporary side effect that will go away? I thought it was supposed to make me sleepy. tryp
I think there was another member here who went hypo on neurontin. It might be worth calling your doctor.
mudpuppy
I became hypo taking neurontin. If you check out Erowid, neurontin-induced mania isn't uncommon. Call your pdoc.
Moody
well heck, that is bad news. Thanks for responding though. lately it seems like everything my pdoc gives me makes me more hyper instead of less, it sucks. Although I must admit it is nice to be out of the sleepy/depressed mode I have been in lately. I will call her monday if things are still the same or worse. If I call now I know she will tell me to stick it out for a few more days.
jarn
Not Neurontin, but I take Lyrica, which is closely related I believe. I'm not always good about taking it regularly, and sometimes when I start taking it again I experience a mild hypomania that lasts for a few days. It does pass for me though.
