I've been on Lithium 600mg for quite some time and have not gained any weight. As soon as I've upped to 900mg and am becoming stable I've put on 4lbs in 9 days. It should be noted that my face looks a bit "chubbier" and I feel bloated so it may be water weight. My concern is that I'm going to blow up like a balloon. Granted, I feel too good right now to stop the Lithium (and I'm not that stupid) but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced that immediate weight gain and how they dealt with it.

I can say that I'm actually hungry now that I'm not hypo all the time and I'm eating normal meals but craving sweets something awful (I've already been tested for Diabetes so it's a non-issue). I'm also exercising 20-30m/day and staying hydrated (1Gal/day min). One of the things that makes me think it's water-weight is that I'll not urinate as frequently sometimes despite pounding down water. It might be time for me to lower my salt intake a bit as I'm notorious for salting everything.

Thoughts?

i know what you mean, i have the same problem with water retention but my appetite is decreased on 1200mg of lithium. it's hard getting the water weight off that despite drinking gallons of water it wont come off and the appetite is affected by drinking lots of coffee, coffee believe it or not increases your appetite and makes you crave carbs. well my advice to you is reduce your sodium intake and try to eat less food.
