New to Adderall

Recommended Posts

So this is day 4 on Adderall. It's been pretty much amazing; of course it hasn't made everything magically better but I can see a definite change. I am on 15mg of the Barr generic IR, taken "as soon as I wake up" or around 9 am. On day two and three I found that by 3 or 4 o'clock I was feeling quite odd. Light headed, getting goose-bumps but not cold, rapid heart rate, slightly sick to my stomach, feeling quite warm; this feeling lasts for about 30 minutes to an hour. It has not hit that time yet today and I will update this post as soon as it does.

I was wondering if this is normal with Adderall the first couple days or if it's something completely unrelated. If it is the Adderall, how long after beginning the drug does it usually last?

Edit: Now that I re-read this... it sounds like some of my come-downs from illegal stimulants (Yes, I have a history. Yes, my pdoc knows about it). Could this be the Adderall wearing off around that time of the day? If so should I call pdoc and see if I can split the pill?

Ooooh, hungry. Yes, hungry too. After that wonderful combination of symptoms wears off I'm quite hungry. I see pdoc once a week, so I'll definitely bring it up with her. I'm just wondering if its something important enough to make a call about, or if I should just wait till my appointment this week. I mean, its not bothering me that much, I just want to know if its indicative of something that should be addressed immediately ya know?

I think also I'll give it today and tomorrow to see if its just a start up effect. My body getting used to the cycle of the Adderall going thru my system and all.

It also could be some blood sugar wierdness. It *feels* like mine drops a little faster and harder after lunch than it needs to, but not bad enough to schedule an emergency appt. One way to find out would be to try a couple of days having a low-carb lunch, to see if that makes a difference.

Or if you eat carbs, make sure they're complex carbs that are low on the glycemic index. That way you'll get a steady release of sugar into your bloodstream.

And of course IANAD but it doesn't seem like it's worth bothering your pdoc about before your weekly appt. Of course you might want to call on Monday and ask if this SHOULD be worrying you.
