Hotmess
Anyone here taking only 25mgs for a period of time and found that to be effective and / or therapeutic? I went to see one doc who planned to have me titrate up to 100mgs and starting slowly at 25mgs but then I went to see another doctor who seems to think that even though after 2 weeks on Lamictal I'm still feeling like crap that I should stay at that dosage and instead of increasing it, I should add in an antidepressant. Now for what it's worth, while I am having mood swings, I'm not entirely sure if I'm bipolar but I am 100% CERTAINLY depressed. (This is the result of being on Antidepressants for 11 years and going off them leaving me a HOTMESS) So anyway, I just wondered if anyone else has had success with such a low dose of lamictal? And if so was that in combination with other drugs or strictly on it's own? Thanks!
Hotmess
See this is where I question my "second opinion" doctor who I sort of decided to go with due to the fact that the first guy was a bit of a jerk. She claims to have patients who are benefitting from that low of a dose and I'm sure there is SOMEONE out there who has but I bet if I were to see the other guy, he'd suggest moving up to 50mgs. I think she is just respecting the fact that I'm trying to stay on as little meds as possible for planning for pregnancy. THat said, I still need to get my headstraight and the new suggestion of 25mgs of Lamictal + 50mgs of Zoloft just doesn't ring right when the first doc's plan was to have me get up to 100mgs. I hate this uncertaintly. It's definitely not helping my anxitety and it's consuming my thoughts. I'm sooo confused.
all_that_glitters
From everything I've been told, 100mg is the lowest therapeutic dose. Lamictal tends to be a bit activating, so you'll probably find it to have antidepressant properties at a higher dose. I'm not a doctor, but I would suggest titrating slowly up to 100mg and then adding an antidepressant if needed. Lamictal takes a long time to work! Hotmess
I'm going to see Doct #1 again today. He'll probably suggest titrating up and he'll probably say I should have done it all sooner b/c I"d be feeling better already or something like that. For the past few days I've been taking a cocktail of 25mgs of Lamictal, 10mgs of Lexapro and 75mgs of Welbutrin. Not knowing who to trust (with docs) makes it so much more difficult!
