joshie Posted July 24, 2010 Share Posted July 24, 2010 as a PRN ALL the pdocs that ive seen are happy to prescribe me valium. even in the psych ward they give it out like its candy. however when it comes to xanax they refuse to give it to me or prescribe it. they wont tell me why!! can anyone shine some light on this? is xanax dangerous or something? i thought all benzos were the same? It is considered to be highly addictive. It also has a short span, so you can feel the effects and then have it wear off relatively quickly. Personally I like that. I like to take it when needed, and then have it wear off so I can drive or whatever. But the theory I read was that the short life of xanax's effect make you crave it. There are probably some other people who will come along and have other useful information. I think it has a bad rap. It is important not to overuse it and become habituated. I did that all under a doctor's supervision. After 3 or 4 years of taking it four times a day it was hard to wean myself off. And abrupt withdrawal is dangerous. It took me two months to taper off.
