LadyDay
Hey there. So, do these vivid crazy nightmares from trazodone ever go away? I only just started it, and I love that I can finally sleep, but don't know if it's a temporary side effect or if I'm going to be stuck with them. celestia
I don't know if they go away. I tried Traz for sleep a few years ago and had really bad nightmares. Like you said, very vivid AND disturbing. Hopefully someone else will have more encouraging things to say.
Guest dirtymike
I recently started trazodone for sleep/depression (and wellbutrin xl during the day) and for the first week I had no dreams that I could remember. Then they started getting weird, maybe not nightmares, but very strange. No matter what I'm doing in the dream, it is like my body is super drunk or high and doesn't function right, but nobody in the dreams notices. I can't walk more than 5 steps without falling or sliding against a wall, and it is super hard to try step up anything. My lower body is almost like rubber. Every night the me in my dreams is very weird and can't function correctly. I wake up feeling kinda awkward, but it is worth it to get sleep so much easier
Emettman
*We all vary*, but after being unsuccessful with more than one sleeping tablet (either ineffective or leaving me badly "doped" in the mornings) I found Trazadone effective: but at a lower dose than prescribed. But this was just for sleep. I'm on other things as antidepressants. Without any Trazodone I really can't sleep, but 75mg is enough just to edge me over into good sleep. On the higher doses I did have odd (but not nightmare) dreams and had trouble getting moving in the mornings. edit: just seen you are on 50mg. Does that split in half? I was supposed to be on 300mg initially!
Anna
I hated traz for sleep, not only did it not work well it put me in this weird, almost drunken state where i would stumble around and feel weird. the sleep i got, the dreams were weird, too, and this s.e. never subsided for me. After a few months, I got rid of it and the seroquel was working well enough anyway for sleep. Sorry to not be of more help. I'd say give it awhile, if it's really helping your sleep, but if the months go by and it doesn't change, there are other sleep meds out there.
