ChemistryExperiment
I was surfing the internet today looking for migraine preventatives, and one website said this has been used. Most of the other ones on the list seemed valid, but actually, if it did work for my migraines, this one seems like it'd be the best fit, because hopefully it'd kick some anxiety too, which has been scarily high lately. Has anyone even heard of it being used for migraine prevention before?
helloheartbreak
I've tried it, failed it. It made me very, very, extremely sleepy - even after giving it some time, also confusion. And I had stomach issues on it, but every med seems to hurt my stomach, so that might just be me. No relief. I think I started at 15mg a day, which is pretty small when compared to what some people take for alcohol issues. When I started it I tried to find others who had taken it and didn't have much luck. Also, every neuro I've been to since sees that on my list of crap I've tried and has been like "Who in god's name gave you that?" But perhaps if you've anxiety it'd be good. I hope it works for you if you try it.
Guest Guest_001
Sometimes benzodiazepines are used to treat migraines. Tranxene produces the same major metabolite as diazepam (desmethyldiazepam), without creating additional metabolites like temazepam. In a way, it's a cleaner version of diazepam. You've tried Ativan and Ambien (technically not a benzo). If you know how well those worked for migraines you may have an indication about the effectiveness of Tranxene. I think it's a bit unusual to take a benzodiazepine to *prevent* migraines, if that means taking them every day.
