Med change tomorrow.

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I've been on 20 mgs of Lexapro for almost two months and believe it's making my depression so much worse, even though I don't remember Celexa bothering me this much before I switched. Trouble is, I've been on so many other antidepressants that either did not work in any way or made my depression worse, and I don't think I've felt much relief from any I've tried. Cymbalta, Remeron, Zoloft, Wellbutrin did nothing. Prozac, Lamictal, Effexor, Trileptal made things so much more horrible.

I'm running out of options. I think that all that is left is Paxil, Tricyclic AD's, more mood stabilizers, and MAOI's.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, because I can't take much more of this level of depression.

Hey,

Have you tried any of the atypical antipsychotics (Abilify, Seroquel etc)? They're good in combination with other anti depressants and some people even find them good on their own. Seroquel has been really great for me.

Yeah, combos might be a possibility if you haven't tried them yet. If you had two that didn't hurt but only minimally helped, combining them may help more--maybe Paxil (new) plus Remeron or Paxil plus Wellbutrin. Which symptoms are the worst?

The AAP addition that tryp mentioned is another good one. abilify promotes its ability to help in this respect.

Thank you for your recommendations. I have tried Abilify and Seroquel combinations before, but without any luck. I'm actually thinking I might try Effexor again. The more I think about it, the more I think the bad reaction I had was because I was given Thorazine at the same time and it was most likely at fault, not the Effexor.

I will definitely look into the Tricyclics tonight.

If you had Thorazine at the same time you were trying Effexor, I don't think you really got to know how Effexor was for you. Trying it again might be a good idea.
