daisy
Just got back from the pdoc and got a month's worth of samples of brand name Wellbutrin XL. I guess since the generics have gotten so much bad press, GSK is trying to market the brand name again. I also walked out with a coupon that will get me two months of Wellbutrin XL for $15 each. Not a bad deal! I know I won't be able to afford to stay on brand name forever, but brand name Wellbutrin XL was VERY helpful for me, and hopefully, along with the Parnate, it will help pull me out of this abyss of a depression. I thought I'd let people know, in case somebody was like me, and had problems on generic Wellbutrin XL. Most were fine for me, but I didn't find that I got as good of results as I did on brand name. (This is the only brand name that has actually made a difference for me.) Teva gave me heart palpitations, and if you've experienced or read about the Teva generic fiasco, you probably understand! Anyways, if you're on Wellbutrin XL and you go to your pdoc, you might want to ask about getting some samples. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way about brand name Wellbutrin XL! olga
Daisy, I can't afford the name brand stuff, either, but I have been on the Anchen version of Bupropion, and now I'm on the Watson version. They both seem fine. I didn't get palpitations with the Teva one, but it definitely didn't work for me. Lots of times the generic can be just as effective as the name brand med. The problem with the Teva version of Wellbutrin XL was that they hadn't perfected the extended release mechanism. The pills released 60% of the active ingredient in the first 4 hours. That's probably why it made your heart do that. It's great to get samples if the docs have them. I'm all for freebies! But when you run out, you might want to try either the Watson or Anchen versions. olga
daisy
Olga, I haven't tried Anchen and have never been able to get Watson, though I've wanted to, but I liked the Activis version of Wellbutrin XL, but was unable to get it some months. Often I'd end up having to switch generics every month or so. I'm a big fan of generics in general, but Wellbutrin XL is the one brand that has actually helped my depression more than any other generics. I still can't believe that after all of those studies that the FDA said that the Teva version was okay... (For the record, I have tried several other Teva generics and have nothing bad to say about them.)
