AnneMarie
Until someone with more technical info comes along... 1. Seroquel is so sedating because it messes with the same histamine receptor that benadryl does, only a lot more so. 2. Risperdal is sedating to many, just often not so much as the other AAPs you mentioned. I personally don't find it sedating, but I didn't find Zyprexa sedating under 10mg, either. 3. Can't help you on this one, but I would imagine it'd depend on the amount of increase. If it works like the pills, I feel a decent increase within a few days. CrazyCatLady
I can only give you my experience with Risperdal, since I don't know about the scientific aspect. Zyprexa Zydis is extremely sedating for me at 5mg (even if I break it in half and take 2.5 mg) so maybe I am easily sedated. I actually will feel sedated for pretty much the whole day after I take it. I was only on 1mg of Risperdal when I decided that I didn't want to take meds, but even at that small dose, it was sedating enough to help me go to sleep. I could take it and still stay awake for a few hours, but when I woke up in the morning I was fine.
jarn
1. AFAIK, as Stacia said, it's the histamine receptor that makes it sedating. 2. Haven't been on Risperdal, but Invega was not sedating at all for me. 3. Never been on injections.
gizmo
Well, just to prove to you that everybody is different, I take BOTH risperdal and zyprexa, and neither one tire me out. Of course, I take them at night TO add fuel to the fire, Seroquel 300 mg and any dose of geodon made me sleep 15 hours a day. I think this is why the term YMMV was invented!
