OverUnderAndThrough
Have you guys seen this? http://www.elements4health.com/ketamine-as-an-anti-depressant-can-take-effect-in-hours.html
saveyoursanity
Yep. Even considered participating in a clinical trial for it (yes, they're testing it on humans) and would have if it didn't require going off all my other medication first. conundrum
I guess this is a much lower dose than what would get you stuck in a K-hole.
Maceo
I don't really understand this. Ketamine is addictive and causes dissociation. Depressed people don't need that..

It is true that you don't understand it, but that doesn't have any effect on the reality of it. The human brain is extremely complicated and psychopharmacology is a complex field. Different chemicals can have a wide range of effects on the brain. Just because a certain drug is used in a recreational way does not have any bearing on whether that drug might be successfully used to treat a disorder. I'm not an expert in psychopharmacology but neither are you. If, through randomized controlled trials, ketamine is found to be an effective and safe treatment for depression, I'm sure it will be used as such. If it's found by the experts to be unsuitable for human use for whatever reason, then that's the way it will be.
saveyoursanity
Yep. Even considered participating in a clinical trial for it How can I find more info about that? Clinical Trials.gov. It's down for me right now or I'd link you to the exact study, but search for either depression or ketamine and you should find it. IIRC, they would even pay for airfare and hospitalize you while you tapered off your old meds if you needed to.
goodoldneon
Has anyone on the board entered a clinical trial involving the use of ketamine? I started the process back in July, filled out some paperwork, etc - but in the end, my pdoc did not think it would be a wise decision. I had just started Cymbalta, and was beginning to show some improvement. After a short, er, remission, the depression is back, with interest, and I'm feeling suicidal again. In the past - about 15 years ago - I used the drug recreationaly - but I was abusing many drugs at the time, and I don't recall how it made me feel. So, has anyone tried it - and if so, did you experience any relief. I thank you for your time - joe
SoFla
I was looking into the study about ketamine treatment for bipolar depression but didnt really fit the criteria. I'm very much interested in how this plays out (seems promising) I would imagine if the "K-hole" dose isnt far enough from the therapeutic dose it'll be heavily abused
