I started Depakote (divalproex sodium) last week

I started at 500mgs for the first week and moved up to1000mgs today. My depression broke after only four days. Is that possible? I am not manic right now either. No racing thoughts. My anxity is much less intense. I also take Trazadone 100mgs and Lorzapan 5mgs(PRM). Is the divalproex sodium working by itself or did it amp up the SSRI affects of the trazadone. Next time I see my psychatriest on October 5th, she said she will prescribe something for the ADHD hopefully that does not screw up my stablity. As anyone had any exsperiances with this drug.

Depakote is a strong antimanic that's also good at rapid cycling and mixed states. Some get some antidepressant action from it, too. IIRC, Depakote worked pretty fast for me.

The Depakote is probably starting to work already, trazodone's SSRI effect is relatively weak. See how Depakote goes and discuss with your doctor in a month or two if you really need trazodone at all.

Jericko, that is so good to read! Glad it is doing the job for you. I find it encouraging when meds really work and help someone. I don't actually like Depakote myself, but that is why there are so many different meds.
