Alprzolam Dose

My doc prescribed 0.25 alprazolam for my fear of flying (I seem to recall him giving me 0.5 in the past, but memory's fuzzy.) In the office I verbally confirmed with him that I can take it every 4 - 6 hours on the day I fly but the pharmacist's doseage instructions say "every 12 hours." Does that make sense for such a low dose of alprazolam? Isn't that how they dose dogs with anxiety disorder?

I am not sure how they dose dogs! lol Our dog is pretty dumb and I would not give him a benzo for fear of making him dumber. lol

I have taken xanax for 8 or 9 years. .25 is not much, the lowest dose. I would take one on the way to the airport, and then one before I get on the plane. Or something along that line. I would probably take 0.5 . I take it sometimes for flying anxiety. But I do not drink when I take Xanax. Follow your doctor's advice. But .25 is a very low dose so don't stress about this.

Thanks, bpladybug. I wound up taking one a half-hour before my first flight and then another before my connecting flight (so, five hours apart) and that seemed to work out ok. :-)
