netsavy006
I've tried reading other sites but I couldn't really understand how to do it. Both my friend and I have AT&T and I do have a phone that supports text messaging, but for some reason I'm limited to texting 160 characters per text. What I'd like to do is use my email address to send my friend the text. I'd do it that way mainly because it's faster (as I can type faster than texting on a flip phone), and I'm more familiar with computers. If it helps to explain it, I'd be using hotmail to send my friend the text through the program Windows Live Mail (if it can be done). (We both live in the Nassau, Long Island, NY area if that helps any) Thanks for your help in advance, Andy.

Aurochs
I've tried reading other sites but I couldn't really understand how to do it. Both my friend and I have AT&T and I do have a phone that supports text messaging, but for some reason I'm limited to texting 160 characters per text. This is the maximum length that an SMS message can be, whether it's sent through email or from a phone. It's the same no matter which phone or carrier you're using. Longer messages can be broken into two or more texts, or sent as an MMS message.
netsavy006
Well the email doesn't work, only because I guess he doesn't have AT&T. I thought maybe he did, but I guess he doesn't. But thanks for explaining the SMS limit to me. I totally forgot about this topic because of my "fixations". Thanks for your help and explanations. Andy.
