swanny Posted October 3, 2010 Share Posted October 3, 2010 my pdoc told me seroquel isnt as effective as the other atypicals for schizophrenia. and reading here http://www.crazymeds.us/seroquel.html and here http://www.crazymeds.us/SeroquelComments.html it says its a "mild antipsychotic" and the "weakest of all the atypicals". what do you guys think? has anyone here done well on it or heard of anyone doing well on it for schizophrenia? It is because of its relative weakness as an antipsychotic that you have to take much higher dosages of it than the other atypicals as well: For example, what could be accomplished by 10-15mg of Zyprexa, you need (as an only semi-educated guess), 600-800mg of Seroquel. At higher doses, its as good an antipsychotic as the other options you have, really, and some people even prefer it after trying the other options as well.
