I was on Invega 6mg at one time and it did help me, but I did have minor akathisia, which 2mg of Artane at bedtime helped with. I took the Invega and Artane both at night. After some time though my symptoms did come back and I had to have the dose increased but I couldn't get the prescription filled because my insurance would no longer pay for the Invega.

But for the period of time I took Invega, it worked well.

Only problem is to other's they said I looked as if I was drunk, so maybe it wasn't the best medication for me to stay on long term anyways.

Best of luck,

Andy.

I found invega helpful. I like abilify and invega equally. So for now I'm on abilify and that's fine. I was on 12mg of Invega and it cleared up most of my symptoms. I did lactate a bit, so don't be suprised if you find that you do too. This drug raises prolactin levels in the body, and that is why you lactate. For me it was very minor. But I felt very clear-headed and calm most of the time. I have been on anywhere from 3mg-12mg of the stuff. I have also been on risperdal and have been on up to 6mg I think of that. I found that they were both very similar. But invega is newer and supposedly has less side effects. I'm not so sure if that is true. Risperdal is generic now, so it will be cheaper. Just something to discuss with your pdoc. I hope it works well for you!

Invega was a mixed bag for me. At first it worked nicely and stopped my delusions, but then the side effects became intolerable. It sent my anxiety sky-rocketing, slowed me down cognitively to the point where I couldn't have conversations and was constantly word-finding, gave me a mask-like appearance and my arm muscles were mildly rigid so I couldn't write properly. I was only on 3mg as well which is a starter's dose, so I guess my response was atypical. Whatever it was, it was really weird.
