DKnight
so I started taking seroquel XR but now I'm having trouble sleeping. My pdoc really wants me on the XR but it's not putting me to sleep like the regular did and it's causing me problems. Any idea? I have both xr and regular wondering if i should go back to reg. AnneMarie
Some people take both, IR at night, XR in the morning. I suppose you could take both at night, too. Talk it over with your doc. Lack of sleep creates problems, particularly for people with bipolar. Your doc will probably work with you on this, but you have to tell her for that to happen. bpladybug
I take both. it works well the good thing about the EX is I do not have sedation, nor food cravings it is only when I take the extra regular 'quel that I have sedation/food cravings (falls asleep cramming left over pizza into my mouth)
DKnight
so the regular seroquel will put me to sleep even if i'm on XR? also want to know if 300mg seroquel XR will put me to sleep? That's what the pdoc wants me on, but I'm having sleep issues without reg.
keops
i've been on 400mg of XR for a year and up until now at least it helped me maintain sleep whereas benzodiazepines failed. i take it four hours before bedtime. i'm not familiar with the regular version. netsavy006
No. It would affect the time release.
DKnight
No. It would affect the time release. Damn really? Cause I've been doing that thinking it'd be fine. Can someone else second that? Does that mess up the XR if I split it?
Guest
Splitting them makes them release faster, but I do recall tryp doing it. My memory is probably wrong though...
AnneMarie
Splitting an extended release tablet in half will turn it into an Immediate Release. "Splitting" a single dose of two pills into one in the morning and one at night does not change their release mechanism. Splitting between one whole tab of XR and one whole tab of IR should not effect the release mechanism of each.
