MamaNikkiP
Hello. My name is Nicole and I am married and a Mom to 3. After the birth of my youngest (3 yrs ago) I was dx with PPD which quickly turned into severe anxiety, which after awhile of my Gyn and PCP trying a bunch of things, they referred me to a pdoc, and I have went from being depressed/anxiety to bipolar to now my current dx with my current doc (whom i have been seeing for 1 yr now) is mood disorder nos, anxiety and pmdd. I have tried almost everything out there and nothing seems to be doing the trick. I am getting very fustrated and hopeless. My condition is "better" than 1 yr ago, but I think it is bc I have more of an understanding of myself. I am starting a new med tonight, Saphris. Wish me luck. I tried it once before but ended up vomitting due to the taste... this one is black cherry flavor. Think that will help? Well, I will let you know soon enough, haha. I just wanted to give a brief intro of myself

Moil
Adding something that can treat bipolar symptoms does sound like a big step in the right direction. I hope this does the trick...and tastes less like vomit.
olga
I hope the new med works, and welcome to Crazyboards! I also hope that your pdoc is also encouraging you to get therapy because the drugs alone aren't going to do it. Check out chat and the blogs, and be sure to read the rules. MamaNikkiP
Hello everyone and thank you. I have tried a lot of different kids of meds for the mood disorder (Abilify, Seroquel, Geodon, Lithium, Depakote, Topomax, etc) and they all came with horrible side effects or else just didn't work. I have been on things for anxiety/depression for 3 yrs now and have tried a whole lot of them too, but didnt start adding in the other things until about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Oh and I do see a counselor. I went thru a few of those (just like the docs) and I have been seeing my current counselor for almost 1 1/2 yrs now, she is just wonderful! Last night the black cherry Saphris tasted better, didn't make me sick, but my tongue went numb for about 20 mins, lol. Knocked me out after about 40 minutes and it was rough to get up this morning but nothing as bad as some meds I have taken.
The Emperor
Hello! I'm a mom with an ass load of anxiety and some mood issues too,t hough I'm not sure WHAT the mood issues are. . . Anyway, I hope your new med helps and doesn't give you any awful side effects!
MamaNikkiP
Thanks Emperor... I hope so too, I am sick of trying meds after meds. I have been in the hospital once because Geodon sent me totally wacky!!! My pdoc said she can't classify my mood disorder too bc she isn't convinced it is BP, who knows, I don't care WHAT it is, I just need it under control. MamaNikkiP
Thanks McKey, I appreciate it. Yes, I love my Doc bc she understands that I like to research meds and such, she gives me options, asks me what I want to do/what I think/etc. And thanks about the avatar too, my Grandma passed from breast cancer as well, a very long time ago, I was just a kid
OutOfTheWoods
Don't mean to intrude on this discussion. I too do a lot of research on my meds. The nurse practitioner, who I see at the pdoc, tells me the meds she is considering, and then gives me time to research them and offer input. One interesting site that I found was AskAPatient.com. You can enter in a med and get ratings and reviews. It has been very helpful. On a side note...I lost my my in 2003 to breast cancer. Not a day goes by that my eyes don't well up thinking about her. I'm sorry for your losses
