confused
Good news! "The lawsuit was brought by the Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-gay Republican group" I don't get out much. Didn't know there was such a thing
nibblerd
I can't believe they'd even put this in place in the first .. place.
Velvet Elvis
So now if congress doesn't pass the defense spending bill with the DADT repeal in the next 60 days the DOJ can just neglect to appeal this and the party is over of DADT.
december_brigette
nibblerd: it was a compromise between the newly elected bill clinton and the people who wanted no "gays" in the military. I was in college at the time. and in the world at that moment it seemed like a good idea - people who were gay could serve in the military - they just couldnt tell and the military couldnt ask. this is a very basic elementary description. im sure those that served in the military can give a better answer. db
exl2398
isn't there a 60 day period for appeal? I am going to hold off my celebration for 60 days.
Moil
I think appeal is standard operating procedure when the government loses a case. So I think it likely that one will at least be filed. But if this is the case, maybe the supreme court can make a final ruling on it so we can do away with this farce for good.
Velvet Elvis
If the defense spending bill passes with the amendment revoking DADT included, there's no reason to appeal it so it's likely that Holder is going to at least sit on his hands until that comes up for a vote. It's possible he'll let this one stand though.
