swanny
In 2005 i was on regular seroquel 1200mg for schizophrenia. 800mg in the morning and 800mg at night. the only side effect i noticed was sedation. like REALLY sedated. but i stuck to it till the end of 2006 in which i switched to clozapine coz the pdoc said its the BEST. anyway after trying clozapine which worked but to my surprise didnt work as good as the seroquel. with clozapine i couldnt stand the drooling anymore so it was stopped and i tried flupenthixol dept injections but that was stopped due to akathisia. so my pdoc put me back on seroquel xr and now currently im on 400mg BUT im noticing side effects i never got last time i was on it. such as dry mouth, constipation, slowed reflexes, increased appetite and sexual dysfunction. I had sedation as a side effect but that went away after 1 week and I no longer experience that but what could be the reason why im experiencing all these side effects which i DIDNT experience last time i was on seroquel?!?! bpladybug
Were you on regualr quel in 2005 ? And are you on extended release now ? That might have something to do with it. My observation is that the regular versus XR can effect people very differently. Some people prefer one to another. I like XR myself.

Velvet Elvis
Some of that should go away with time. It could be a difference between your condition now and your condition the first time you took it. Lingering interactions with past medications could also play a role. jarn
I've also had radically different side effects on medications when I took them at different times. Ziprasidone - first time, no sedation. Second time (was taking other meds which could've impacted) - HUGE sedation. Made Seroquel look like an upper. I fell asleep while hiking, and I mean that, literally while moving. Technically, yes that is the difference. But from reading and conversation with people they seem to react very differently to one or the other. Just my observation. I think the comment that you condition might have changed (VE ?) that is an interesting point.
