swanny Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 currently on 400mg seroquel xr for schizo. been on it for about 3 weeks. i have noticed some improvement but not enough improvement for me to function properly in society. i posted a message before asking what the max dose was. most people said 800mg while someone said he has seen someone as high as 1500mg. seroquel blocks dopamine but thats not all it does i know. but the harder you block dopamine the more effectiveness you get? so if my pdoc increased it to say 800mg should i improve more? is there a certain limit to of how many milligrams you can improve on. for example if you went beyond 800mg would it make any difference? i mean you cant just go higher and higher? jarn Posted October 26, 2010 Share Posted October 26, 2010 I've read that Seroquel starts to work as an antipsychotic at around 600mg - maybe speak to your p-doc about this to see what his plan is? In my personal experience Seroquel starts to act on my psychotic symptoms around 700mg, EXCEPT when I am taking it with another antipsychotic.
