a pill by any other name...

Recommended Posts

Hey there the gang! I'm back. Yep, just got reconnected.

Anyways, just got this new script for zopiclone. Was looking it up here with no luck...Ambien and Lunesta seem similar, just how similar though?

So I thought that maybe my problem is that I have only the generic name. Anyone knows the brand name for this? I may then be able to locate more info ( and I never swallow before I look it up, so...)

It's not available in the U.S. Lunesta is the next closest thing, I think (generic name is eszopiclone). It's also in the same category as Ambien and Sonata. It was discussed from time to time on the old board (http://www.crazymeds.us/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl). If you've ever taken any of the other hypnotics, I'm very interested in knowing how the zopiclone compares. The only one I've had any luck with is Ambien and even that is no longer a sure thing.

Hi fellow insomniac!

Imovane is indeed the generic name for zopiclone (at least in Europe). It is very difficult to obtain information about it when you search the american drug sites about it.

I've been on it for two years so if you have any questions feel free to email me...

Thanks to all.

I did swallow, Ophelia ( :) ) and well, I just cannot keep myself awake then. It sure does taste like sucking on a penny ( ;) )

Ok, bad j/k aside, I found it to be really effective except for the bad taste and a sligth hangover, both of which persist well into the next morning.

They also do really way as emergency mood stabilizer/tranquilizer if you take a half tab (ie it will help in a pinch if you have to deal with bipolar spectrum or anxiety type stuff)

Here in Japan it's called Amoban. I take just 7.5mg, and it knocks me flat on my ass.

I got it from 2 different doctors; one version works great, and the other was like yours--a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE bitter taste that lingers all the next day. Plus the lovely hangover.

Now I can't remember which one was the nasty one. Russian roulette, anyone?

Once I figure out which one didn't suck, I'll let you know which company distributes it here--might be worth trying a different company's version.
