netsavy006
I think someone else might of asked this or a similiar question, but here it comes from a**h*** me: Is it possible for any medication (psych or not) to work in the beginning and then later on not work or make you worse? Is it possible even for meds that were working or not that you stopped and tried a 2nd or 3rd time? If so and have personal experiences, can you please share them if you so choose. Thanks, Andy. Yeah lots meds have done that to me. With ssri's they seem to work fine at first but then after a few months make me really dull and apathetic. When the ssri is discontinued my depression actually improves for some reason. Depakote is another one that did not go to well. At first it really helped to stabilize me and keep me calm. I really liked it! However, after a month or so I got really cloudy thinking and I was less stable then before I started it. Again, when the med was discontinued my symptoms improved. Guest Vapourware
I've had this experience twice, and both times were with AAPs. The first one was Abilify, which worked at first in getting rid of some delusional thinking but then just failed for some reason and I started developing ideas of reference while still being on the drug. I was on 22.5mg [or 1.5 15mg tablets, strange dosing I know] and my pdoc and I agreed it was probably a good idea to pull the pin. The second one was Invega, which I thought was fantastic at first. I tried Invega after Abilify failed and again, initially it helped with doing away with my delusional thinking. Unfortunately it also ramped up my anxiety and eventually I felt like it had given me a chemical lobotomy because I wasn't able to hold a conversation with people. I found myself slowed down cognitively and I was constantly word-finding. It was a fairly unpleasant experience and I was only on 3mg of it, so I don't know why I had such a reaction to the drug. jarn
I've had breakthrough symptoms or episodes on several AAPs. And I've had different side effects from being on meds different times. What's with the a**h***? Do I want to ask?

crazycatnapper
Parnate saved my life, but after about ten years it's pooped out on me. I took a med "vacation" and tried various other things too, but no luck. Sometimes, they just poop out . It royally sucks.
