domovoi
i've been taking 300mg 3 times a day for anxiety, then the doc figured it wasn't working so lowered to 200mg 3 times a day with the intention to stop altogether eventually. i've been getting very angry and irritable. angry, irritable, restless, wanting to punch things, scream, etc. i've also been anxious about school but i take clonazepam for anxiety and it helps. but when i'm anxious, i'm not angry, just restless and jittery. since lowering neurontin, i've been like this.. i think i can attribute the onset of anger and irritability to lowering the dose. could it also be a fluke? neurontin is a funny med, i don't know what it was doing for me besides anxiety, but it was doing SOMETHING, i'm pretty sure. should i go back to 300mg to see what it does and if anger goes away? the pdoc is pretty relaxed about this. thanks
AnneMarie
How long ago did you step down? If your pdoc is fine with you returning to 300mg, I'd increase to see if that resolves the anger. If he's not okay with the increase, I'd call to say what's up now and to see if he'd okay returning to 300mg for a while. You might as well rule in or out the obvious first. dedoubt
I tried to lower my dose of gabapentin a few months ago, and spent a few days practically enraged-- which for me is a sign of mania-- so I went back up to my usual dose (1200 mg/day). When I went back up, I went back to feeling less angry, so it seemed pretty obvious that it is helping balance that part of my mood. I wonder if it has something to do with both of us being rapid cyclers? It has such a short half-life, maybe we are more apt to be affected when the dose is lowered?
