According to the vet I work for tagament is also an H2 blocker and it has never caused weight loss in me.  It sounds like a weird but interesting idea.  I'd definitely talk to my doctor and ask about other options such as insulin sensitizers before trying something out of left field.  All kinds of drugs can have weird reactions with your system--Claritin gave me suicidal ideation when I had none previously.  Be careful.

When I went back on Zyprexa at the beginning of this year my pdoc made a suggestion of taking Pepcid, generic name Famotidine, 20-40mg one hour before I took my Zyprexa. I can't endorse or  endorse its use. But my personal experience, I did gain a few pounds when I first started the Zyprexa and once I started the Famotidine my weight stayed steady. I did not lose any weight, any, but I also did not gain any more weight than the initial 5 lbs. or so. This may have been the case even without the Famotidine, I'll never know.
