Guest lilabean
I am currently taking Lithium, Abilify and Zoloft. Since I started the lithium a few weeks ago I have been gaining weight. A few months ago my pdoc put me on topamax and I actually lost weight, but that's about all it did, there was no therapeutic effect so I went off of it. I want to go back on topamax to offset the weight gain but I wasn't sure if that combination was even possible. I don't see my pdoc for another week but I still have some topamax and want to start taking it now. Has anyone else taken lithium and topamax concurrently? AnneMarie
My experience with starting Lithium (3x now) is that I can water weight the first few weeks and then I loose it without much effort. Give Lithium a little time to show if it really is putting weight on or if it is temporary.
netsavy006
YMMV but for me I can take Lithium and Topamax together because I'm taking Lithium for mood and Topamax for seizures. They work fine together for me but I'm on other medications too. My daily medication totals are in my sig. Do give it some time and discuss your options with your doc first. You may not need the Topamax right away. Leave that as an option only if you need it. Why add a med if you may not need it you know?
