Cetkat
Back story, drank two glasses of wine and skipped my Amitriptyline and Trazodone that night to avoid too much CNS depression. I've done this before with no problem. The next day I realized that I was out of my Abilify and only took 5mg instead of my regular 30mg. A couple hours later I had the oddest thing happened. I was walking around the apartment and realized that I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling. As in *really* couldn't look straight or down without really concentrating.. and even then I was only able to hold that for a few seconds before I looked up again. It felt like the muscles at the top of my eyes were contracting and it was pretty concerning. Later that night I was able to pick up a new script for the Abilify and promptly took it. I hoped that once it hit my system it would help. It didn't. Then later that night I took my regular Amitriptyline and Traz and went to bed, really hoping that it would be gone this morning. Sure enough it did. Yay!! But I'm still a little concerned. I don't think it will happen again because I've been on this combo for quite awhile without anything like this occurring, but I'm at a complete loss about what actually happened. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Any suggestions or thoughts about what may have been the exact cause?
Emettman
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Any suggestions or thoughts about what may have been the exact cause? Fancy name: "Oculogyric crisis" Wiki is actually reasonable place to start on this one, but don't take the more severe or combinations of symptoms to be common or necessary. It can just be a short episode involving the eyes alone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculogyric_crisis
SashaSue
I would assume the cause was your dramatically decreased abilify dosage.
Cetkat
Thanks to both of you. Couldn't figure out how to look up this one. It's good to have the cause pinned down. Now I can avoid it in the future.
