ahalo
On 1200 Lithium. Been on that dose I think for a few weeks now after ramping up from 300 mg. Added Abilify almost 2 weeks ago. In past had extreme restlesness at a higher dose of Abilify (on 10 mg now was on 25 mg). It was sad sad sad because the medication REALLY worked for me. I went off it but was put back on it and pdoc said if I get the same problem there are meds to counteract it. Friday I started having a small tremor in my left thumb only when it was at a certain angle. It's not doing it now but it did for most of the day. Yesterday I noticed a tremor a few times in my right hand but it was brief and went away. Could this be from Lithium? Or another manifestation of the Abilify side effect? Or caused by adding Abilify? I'm just curious... my pdoc didn't call me when I asked him to call me if I should be worried so I'm not worrying. I just wonder what it could be. FYI I'm also on Clonidine which I started with the Abilify. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. The dose right now is .2 but will eventually be .4. Thanks for any insight!!!! Guest
Its very likely that its lithium, almost everyone at higher doses gets them. Lots add propranolol or something like it to calm them a bit. at 40mg it cuts mine enough that I can type without double keypresses and the like. nibblerd
My leg muscles have shaky properties now when I do squats at the gym or get up off of the floor. My arms have shakiness when I curl weights, and my hands start shaking when I use the muscles in a certain way. Like Not_me suggested, I use propranolol, and only need 10mg for mine. 20mg cuts my blood pressure too much. If you don't want to use a beta blocker, I have read that Neurontin (Gabapentin) and Mysoline (Primidone) have positive effect on the tremor, though the latter should be used with Vitamin D supplementation due to how anticonvulsants can affect bones. Gabapentin at least has other helpful features, like reduction of anxiety.
helloheartbreak
I have mild tremors on Lithium at a 1.2 level, but when Abilify is added they are magnified, so it could be the combo Inderal should still work to hep keep them under control. mj1127
I have a lithium related tremor in my right hand, but mild enough I don't bother to do anything about it.
