Ipad, so adorable, so maddening.

Last night, I got my Hannukah present from my parents. A brand new shiny Ipad. Yay! I'd been so, so, wanting one. Fabulous.

Except that it won't work. It will connect to my wifi, it will give every possible indication of being connected to my wifi, until I try to actually do anything online. Then, I am informed that safari cannot possibly open any web pages, because it is not connected to the internet. Great.

I've now spent HOURS, and HOURS, and HOURS, trying to get it working, looking all over the apple site, and then the whole internet, for anything that might do it, talking to people at the apple 800 #, three times, talking to the router people, doing all the little things that could be done, and it STILL is NOT WORKING!!!

Before I can just replace it, I have to go see if it works with any other wifi network. I cannot even tell you how annoying it is to have to do that. I don't live in a normal place, where finding wifi would be easy. No. I live in the land of the lost, where I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go all the way to the fucking Barnes and Noble to find public wifi. And that is so fucking annoying, I cannot even tell you. It's far, with ridiculous traffic. And I hate barnes and noble. And the last guy I spoke to said, if that didn't work, I should call them back, to get some replacement process going. If the replacement process is anything more complicated than my going to the apple store, and trading this one in for one that (hopefully) works, I'm going to be so pissed off, I might explode. OMG.

I was thinking about getting Dad one for xmas.

He may end up with a Kindle now.

I've seen people at my Apple store come in with iPods that didn't work and the techie guy would look it over, go in the back and get a new one, and hand it to the customer.

It shouldn't be that difficult to go on line. What a pain in the butt. I hope it's resolved soon.

It could be the WPA vs. WEP security settings. Though I imagine you probably tried that already. PM me if you want help. I've gone through this before tho not with the ipad.

If you are at the end of your rope with apple, etc. then I would demand that they give you a new one immediately. I've also done this. Tell the apple people you are getting a heart attack from all this stress that you cannot go to barnes and noble and that you want a new IPAD immediately. As soon as you get on the phone with apple ask to speak to a manager. Do not do this with whoever answers the phone. It is totally ridiculous that you should have to drive somewhere to try out the ipad on some other wireless network. Unacceptable.

I don't know if you have a apple store nearby. I guess that could be farther than Barnes and Noble. But if you do and they give you a new ipad, have them connect it up to a wireless network at their store.

I had a horrible time once trying to get a $50 itunes gift card to work. Finally I found someone at apple who did all the work for me. The key is going up the chain past the people who answer the phone.

What a hassle!! I'm so sorry. :-{

Skip the B&N test. Just go to Apple for a new one.
