mammakanin
i'm sure this is in here somewhere but i'm too tired to look. what's the general thought about taking an ad and driving? are some better than others? i have over an hour commute one way everyday, and if i get an ad, i'd like to be able to drive. stesolid (valium) i can drive on. imovane (zopliclone, i think) i can't. not sure what will happen when i see the mdoc on friday, but if she suggests one it would be good if i can drive on it. i went to the national drug list and all the common ones here have a "traffic warning" (meaning it is up to you to decide if you are in any condition to drive or operate heavy machinery.) both stesolid and imovane have traffic warnings, but like i said, one i feel okay with, the other i don't. Maddy
Sometimes after time to acclimate to the effects, driving and other activities were just fine for me on all kinds of meds. YMMV.
rowen
The only AD I've had issues with was Remeron, but sedation his me hard if it's a side effect. Like Maddy said, once you get used to the drug you won't have any problems. I think that warning is more to cover their asses than anything. SashaSue
I've never had an issue with driving on anything, certainly not ad's.
CrazyCatLady
I've been on quite a few AD's and never had any issues driving while on them.
weordmyndum
It really, really varies. SSRI's generally don't affect me in terms of sleepiness. I was on nortriptyline for over a year, which also didn't make me sleepy, but the amitriptyline knocks me right the hell out. Best advice I can give is see how it affects you. If you're not sleepy, no reason you shouldn't be able to drive.
water
When I first started taking Wellbutrin I could not drive at all. My mind was all over the place. I had no focus. I would drive right through stop signs. But I had never ever taken any AD's before. And this side effect went away completely within a few days. mcjimjam
My ability to drive hasn't been affected by any AD's and I've been on a few (5 or 6).
