i just wanted to vent about this. i used to be bullied in school. they would swear, yell, threaten me, call me nasty names. i told them to stop it. i would yell at them STOP IT. they didnt. i went to the principal as a last resort. he told them to stop it. but they didnt. they told all their friends and it got 10 times worse. and the principal said he couldnt really do anything unless they physically hit me. even if they did hit me they would get suspended for a day or two and come back even more pissed off that i got them in trouble. i had to leave the school and go to another. was more happy at my new school. i guess when its verbal nothing can be done.... when youre dead or in hospital thats when something can be done. how pathetic.

just curious how often have you been bullied in school and they were told to stop it by the principal and actually STOPPED IT? you cant control what people do. if you told a murderer to stop murdering people and he would actually stop it we wouldnt need to put him in jail would we? if ppl do as their told we wouldnt have to have prison or jail or avo's etc etc

I was bullied through almost all of elementary and middle school, and it was terrible. Adults so often blow off the incredible damage that bullying can do. I was physically harmed a few times, but the emotional injuries were much greater. In my case, there were plenty of adults (mostly teachers) who knew it was happening and witnessed it first-hand, but no one was willing to stop the bullies.

  • 4 weeks later...

I was bullied in every state school I went to. I was lucky enough to go to a private school at the end of primary and through intermediate, where I was never bashed up or had something stolen or intentionally made to feel inferior to make some future trouble making pile of shit feel good. Emotionally and physically abused almost everyday in the junior years throughout high school. Parents didn't seem to listen to me, I wish they did. School didn't take me seriously. Wankers.

I coped by hiding behind a computer screen. Its the reason I'm 25 and live at home, single and have very few friends and have social anxiety and other social problems, on top of the social crap with add. I'm not saying my life sucks, I like what I have, but it should be different, I have had that taken from me. I can blame the school for that. C**ting hell hole.

:Trigger::Trigger:possible trigger scenario = violence :Trigger:

If a dickhead waves a craft knife at you in shop class menacingly and the damn school didn't do shit, I think I could be forgiven. May as well have gone to fucking juvie instead, I did nothing wrong and I would have had the same result. I know the past is the past, but psychologically the damage is done and its not going to be fixed overnight.

:) we good now :)

What the fuck good is a no bully policy if you cannot even uphold it!? I even had a boss use stand over tactics on me at work. This is the reason I hate work and authority figures and people on drugs/acting tough. I'm in constant fear that I will have to go through that again. Somedays the fear is less than others. I hate what people do to people to make themselves feel good or superior. I hate being a socially awkward wreck. I'm changing it. Its frustrating.

I had to leave my friends because a fight started and I just couldn't take it. Made a lame excuse, ran for my car and came home, saw the bullies thing here and had to have a little rant, which is now over.

:)

Bullying is horrible. Agreed. I got bulled in middle school and it was awful, copletely a mess for me.

I found that the best solution for bullying to stop is to find the best "fit" for student and school. Either you are lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with good schools and adults in charge, or you deal wiht compromises. My son's chater is worderful. Thye are arets and drama focused. It's odd, they have a reputation of taking on any kid that gets kicked out of the southside schools (the poorest port of town anyway) and the thing is they KNOW thses kids. THey hadve a super behavioral helath staff, they don't take shit, they keep bathroom doors locked so no one can "hide out" and give the kids mesh backpacks and stuff. When kids act out badly enough, police reports are filed. I thikn there's a rule that if there's drug use susepected they can come search yorur HOUSe for it.

This works out well really. The ones that can be socialized are and it's a very individualistic environment.

The adults have to SHOW they are in charge, man. I mena, middle schoolers thinkk they are gods, but they can be taken down very easily.

As an aspie and untreated ADD kid, I got some shit for acting weird, being impulsive, and not being able to follow conversations. It was worst in elementary and middle school. By high school I was 6'3", could stand on my own and finally learned some social skills, mostly by hanging out with other fucked up kids and doing drugs with them. By the end of high school I had a fair number of friends and was getting laid a lot but was still pretty fucked up as a result of what I'd gone through in my younger years.

It appears the anti-bullying policies and enforcement are getting better. At the school district my children go to, bullying is not tolerated at all. The hammer comes down on the bully(ies). The administration takes it very seriously and acts to stop it.

If you're a parent and your child is getting bullied, and the school administrators are doing nothing to stop it -- go to the next school board meeting and bring it up as an issue.
