DKnight
Seems like no matter what combos I try, nothing works until I add ativan into the mix. Taking .5mg twice a day. It's not even my anxiety that was really bad, but more of an agitated depression I had when not taking it. I guess I'm a little worried about long term depression getting worse, but what choice do I have? My anxiety and my depression is better when I take Ativan. My thoughts are also much more clear. How can I beat that? I'll report in after a few weeks on it to see what happens. One thing I've noticed is I feel like going out a lot less. I've also noticed trouble going to sleep since I restarted it, but feel a lot more excited about things. In any case, it seems like it makes me anxious at first, then over a few days I feel more like myself and in control. I guess I'm very conflicted about taking Ativan cause I hear such negativity about benzos more so than any other drug out there. Anyone else have trouble going without a benzo in the mix? Are you sure you're experiencing effects from the ativan that strongly, or could it be something else?
DKnight
I really don't know, but since I've started I've been feeling great, speeded up a little. I went christmas shopping today something I've been dreading but I was nailing it with ease.
colinmichaels
Ativan works great for me. I have taken it as needed for over 20 years. Although I have never taken it for more than 8 days. My P-doc thinks I should take it daily, but I don't agree with him. There are days when I simply do not need it, but its always good to know its there! Ya it also seems after that amount of time I'll get real tired and lethargic with it. I also want to know if it's ok to have space in between dosages since I'm only taking twice a day. Is that going to cause me any trouble?
colinmichaels
It can cause some rebound anxiety if your at the end of the period when your ready to take another dose. It starts to wear off and this can happen. With the low dose your taking though I doubt that would happen. For long term use everyday I think most people take klonopin. It has a longer 1/2 life so it won't poop out as quickly as ativan. However there are many folks who use ativan long term for daily use-ya just have to get the dosage and spacing right. Good luck! Keirelle
It's funny how so many seem to take it daily. I had a script from my pdoc in the city I used to live in for 1mg daily and when I moved, my new doc said no one should take it long term, it's too adictive, blah blah blah, and changed my script, giving me on 0.5 prn... and only 10 pills! I told her I RARELY took it everyday but that it was the only thing that worked for my anxiety and she still wouldn't give it back. But then she is just my family doctor- getting a new pdoc soon so that should help
