is seroquel XR that different from IR?

Recommended Posts

I tried Seroquel IR over the summer and hated it. I only took 50mg for a week, but it seemed to have the opposite effect on me. I take remeron at night and usually sleep well, but with the Seroquel I fell asleep quickly but then kept waking up all night long. Also, it made me feel more agitated, rather than sedated. I tried taking it in the morning, but it made me feel so doped up I had to lie down, I ended up sleeping for 2 hours and then woke up feeling agitated again. :(

So now my pdoc wants me to try Seroquel XR, but I am afraid it will be the same as the regular Seroquel. Not looking forward to poor sleep and extra anxiety. Has Seroquel XR worked for anyone when Seroquel IR did not?

Well, if it knocked you out initially and THEN led to poor sleep, perhaps the XR is actually a good possible choice. The agitation and anxiety.... I don't know. COULD be akathesia like stuff, which seroquel can cause. I'd say give it a shot though, and see what happens. Trying on weekend sounds smart.
