llama44
I have been on topamax for four months. My pdoc just took me off of it today due to his belief that "it wasn't doing anything for me". So rather than increase the dose he just wants me to stop it cold turkey. I was on one hundred mgs. Will I have a seizure? Should I be worried? I know you aren't supposed to stop AC's cold turkey right?
llama44
Unfortunately I do not have any extra topa to taper down. I get a weekly pillbox from the human service center. So here's hoping I guess. Just makes my anxiety worse. Just had a panic attack. I guess I got a little too used to my cymbalta and evening dose of klonopin. Both of which were taken away by my pdoc as well.
notfred
The doses for Epilepsy are much higher, 400 mg/day as monotherapy and 200 mg/day as an adjunct. nf
llama44
Ok thanks. That makes me feel a bit better. I was on a pretty low dose you are right.
Cetkat
This may or may not be true for Topamax, but with Lamictal withdrawal, Klonopin helped. You could try to take extra if you run into problems and see if it helps.
creepy
I had anxiety on topamax, but I never got up to 100mg which is supposedly the stabilizing dose. Weird for a med that has helped a lot of folks with PTSD.
