Generally, it doesn't change anything as far as I know. I had it on Abilify, but not on Geodon, Zyprexa, or Seroquel. Abilify is the most likely one to cause it btw. Also, just so you know, I was able to get past the Abilify akathisia by titrating extremely slowly. Now I'm on it without a problem.

I would tell you exactly what she said, excepting that I haven't been on any other AAP.

The chances of developing akathisia varies between antipsychotics. For me, I found Clozaril to have no akathisia, but Abilify and Saphris caused severe akathisia to the point where I had to stop the medicine. There are medications to help akathisia should it develop such as Cogentin and Artane.

Good Luck,

Andy.

I've been reading and reading and I can't find anywhere that suggests that the chances are any higher of developing akathisia on an AAP if you've developed it using a different AAP.

There is however an increased incidence of NMS, which is Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome when changing between antipsychotics, but my doctor says it has to be at higher doses, which makes sense.
