Hey there!

My name is Chris, I'm 38, I'm from New York and I'm a crazy queer RN.

Well, I think that pretty much sums it up.

Oh, and I like horses, surfing, skating, camping and snowboarding.

; )

I had a history of depression since my teens, and following a severe head injury after a horseback riding accident 10 years ago, I really went batshit insane. I went from being "generically" dysthymic to being easily agitated, angry and prone to deep, black pits of suicidal depression that would last for weeks at a time. I became a pro at driving away friends, jobs and partners with my behavior. Celexa, Lexapro and Lamictal either made me sick or fat, so my current cocktail is Effexor XR, Wellbutrin XL, Topamax, Trazadone and Nuvigil. I just stopped taking Abilify because my affect was very flattened. So far, it works pretty well, my mood has it's ups and downs, but I have managed to stay in a stable relationship with someone amazing and patient for 2 years now and I've managed not to drive the last of my friends into caves with my bizarre and irrational behavior. Right now I am looking to get back to work and finish my Masters, which has been an issue for me since my accident. I'm keeping my chin up, though. It can be done. = D

I'm glad this board is here, and it's great to meet everyone.

Hi there,

: )

Thanks for the welcomes.

I used to live in NYC, but now I live in the 'burbs, close to the beach. I needed the peace and quiet. I worked at Mount Sinai, also, back in my glory days. I was in the CTICU.

I was a lowly volunteer and general scut monkey for two or three years. I worked on 8C - it was a GI/GU/ENT unit when I was there. Mostly, I cleaned out a lot of closets and emptied a lot of bedpans.
