TheGreenRoom Posted June 11, 2011 Share Posted June 11, 2011 Hey there! My name is Chris, I'm 38, I'm from New York and I'm a crazy queer RN. Well, I think that pretty much sums it up. Oh, and I like horses, surfing, skating, camping and snowboarding. ; ) I had a history of depression since my teens, and following a severe head injury after a horseback riding accident 10 years ago, I really went batshit insane. I went from being "generically" dysthymic to being easily agitated, angry and prone to deep, black pits of suicidal depression that would last for weeks at a time. I became a pro at driving away friends, jobs and partners with my behavior. Celexa, Lexapro and Lamictal either made me sick or fat, so my current cocktail is Effexor XR, Wellbutrin XL, Topamax, Trazadone and Nuvigil. I just stopped taking Abilify because my affect was very flattened. So far, it works pretty well, my mood has it's ups and downs, but I have managed to stay in a stable relationship with someone amazing and patient for 2 years now and I've managed not to drive the last of my friends into caves with my bizarre and irrational behavior. Right now I am looking to get back to work and finish my Masters, which has been an issue for me since my accident. I'm keeping my chin up, though. tryp Posted June 11, 2011 Share Posted June 11, 2011 I was a lowly volunteer and general scut monkey for two or three years. I worked on 8C - it was a GI/GU/ENT unit when I was there.
