Is anyone taking Pristiq? Ive been on it for I think 2 months and I seem to be hitting a rough patch. Does this mean the med is not working? I also take lamictal 200mg and risperdal 1 mg at night.

Define "rough patch". When did you start the Lamictal and Risperdal compared to the Pristiq?

OK, a little background. I was on Paxil 20 mg for 10 years (working great for me) before I had a breakthrough depression. I was given Celexa for about six months and that worked slightly (even though I was at a low dose, i think 20 mg). I was then switched to Wellbutrin which I dont think helped at all but I stayed on it for 5 months. We them went back to the Paxil and added Lamictal and that did the trick for 5 years. Then in December 2010 I had another breakthrough depression and after trying to up the dose of paxil (with no response) he added Abilify which gave me alot of gi side effects. He them switched me to Risperdal and that has helped somewhat until this weekend where I felt really crappy with deppresive symptoms and obsesing if things got real bad would I try to hurt myself. I dont think I would but its a constant worry.

By rough patch I mean depression with anxiety and suicidal ideanation.

You may just have had an off weekend. Give it a few more days before panicking. Has anything happened recently that may have tanked your mood?

Not at all. It just came out of nowhere. Hope either the meds work soon or I find one that does.

Ok, so when did the Paxil stop? December, or later?

February

Ok. It's not withdrawal then. Sounds more like a progression of the MI moreso than the meds becoming ineffective (based on the fact that they worked well for quite awhile). Your meds are pretty low considering. I would recommend upping them to see if the situation improves. Also, since you tolerate SSRI's obviously.. a very good med to look at would be Effexor - it's main function is it's ability to improve depression. If all that fails, Lithium is excellent as a mood stabilizer. It brought me out of having suicidal thoughts within a week and a half.
