goodguy99
I was taking 300 mg of extended release Bupropion daily since the late fall, I complained to my psychiatrist that it was making me too anxious so she cut the dose to 150mg. After a few weeks, I told her that anxiety was still a huge issue. My right eye wouldn't stop twitching either. So she took me off the Bupropion completely last week. My first Bupropion-free day was on Tuesday, I think I only felt my eye twitch once since then. However, for the last 2 days I have had the strangest headache and also diarrhea (sorry, TMI) and I am parched with thirst at night. I am prone to headaches, but this feels much different. It feels like there is a glowing-hot furnace in my skull, like it's under pressure. Usually my headaches are stabbing pain, or dull throb so this is very different. OTC analgesics haven't taken it away. I am going to call her tomorrow and see what she says, I know that splitting my 150 mg pills probably aren't an option so maybe she will write me for a few immediate release ones which I can split and use to taper. I am blaming this bad feeling on withdrawal of Bupropion, but it has been 7 days since I stopped and the problems only started yesterday. Would withdrawal take 5 days to kick in? I also taking 150 mg of Lamictal (at 150 since yesterday, previously I was at 100 mg for about 1 month, it's been a slow titrate) and .5 mg Ativan as needed. Perhaps the tiny increment in my Lamictal is the culprit?
Anna
i doubt w/d would take that long to kick in, but i'm not a doc, so you need to talk to yours. Lamictal, fwiw, is known for causing headaches, particularly on titration. I would get a dull throbbing headache for a few days here and there as i was increasing dosages. In either case, talk to doc. anna
LynnK
Wellbutrin apparently clears your system in 4-8 days, so it could possibly be the culprit. But Lamictal is notorious for causing headaches when you increase the dose, and you went up 50% in dosage, so my guess would be it's that. Either way, of course, let your pdoc know. goodguy99
And today I had the headache too, took 400 mg Advil in the morning and then another 200 in the early afternoon. Around 3pm I took Tylenol and it finally went away. Now I feel great. Maybe it is the Lamictal causing it. I should call the pdoc anyway, because she wanted to give me some immediate release bupropion. She said I could take it on days that I felt I needed the 'lift', which to me sounds weird that she's pushing 'lifts' to me, LOL. She's also offered me Adderal and Provigil, none of which I am willing to take due to my tendency towards anxiety/panic. Has anyone ever heard of a pdoc telling a patient to take bupropion like that? Just when the feel like it?
water
Has anyone ever heard of a pdoc telling a patient to take bupropion like that? Just when the feel like it? Yes, my husband's stepfather was told he could take the immediate release pill as needed, but he is also on the lowest dose of the sustained release pill. I guess his pdoc suggested the IR for really bad days. When I started bupropion it was with the IR pill and my body had major side effects. I think it was because so much of the med was dumped out all at once. I had a much better reaction to the extended release. If you are coming off the med altogether maybe cut the IR pills in halves or quarters.
