dogsfoot
Hello CB, I had a question, recently I have found that the following drugs are smashing me and destroying my equilibrium. Lexapro, Zoloft, mirtazipine... Honesty the higher the dosage the more my walking starts to mess up. I was thinking about trying lamictal... Sorry my dx is possible Bipolar I, on risperidone and mirtazipine at the moment but still chronically depressed. What are your experiences with Lamictal? Good or bad? Is it going to make me strange?... Stranger... Let me know what you have experienced.
ninetynine
I've been taking lamictal for a long time to control my seizures. It made me a bit giddy in the first few weeks, but my system got used to it. Some people have claimed they gained weight from taking lamictal, but it never affected me in that way. I'm sure lamictal won't make you strange or stranger.
dogsfoot
Thanks ninetynine... I get to see my doctor and Tuesday I will see what he thinks... Although he tends not to go with my crazy ideas... He already said no to Xanax and klonopin even though I was having daily panic attacks... The mirtazapine seems to have worked for that though.... Silly brain... I'm sure it would all be less problematic if life wasnt so stressful...
San
Lamictal helped me a lot, I was put on it years ago while hospitalized. Unfortunately I got Steven-Johnson's syndrome from it (the rash, rare) and I had to be taken off it.. It was a good med. Stupid body!
Anna
i too loved lamictal until I got SJS. did not titrate up to therapeutic dosage, before getting SJS so I can't speak to its mania controlling properties, just that it is a damn good AD for bp dx. I didn't feel strange and/or anxious on it at all. I kind of felt like...."hey, this is how my brain would be if I were normal!" It was great. No balance issues or word finding issues or anything. tryp
I moved this topic to Anticonvulsants, since it's mainly about Lamictal. If you look through this forum, you will find that there are already a ton of very long threads where people describe their lamictal experiences. I like Lamictal quite a lot. After my body adjusted to it, I find that the side effects are pretty much the mildest of anything I've ever taken. And it sure did put a dent in my depression. The Emperor
I was put on Lamictal in the hospital, and I liked it a lot at first, I ended up having to up my dose though and add an AD. The only problem I'm noticing is memory loss, but that could be due to the dose of Valium I take and all the benzos I've been taking for the past two years. I don't really know. Evey
I am currently on it, but plan on getting off it. Since I've been on it, I have had really bad cognitive problems. Hard to think, hard to be creative (I am a writer), memory loss and lots of other things. But this is just me. A lot of people have had very wonderful experiences with it.
