LWD
To those who are experienced, I want to know if I have the possibility of toxicity or if the adjustment will be safe what is your take. I don't see my doctor for two more months and my symptoms are bothering me now. I want to increase my dosage by 900mg. I already take 2700 mg and my lithium level is .7. I think I got space in the level range to increase by this much because at current prescription my symptoms are still bad. 900mg may seem a lot but it's not that much of an increase to the body if you already take 2700mg. I did it yesterday and I think it helped me out. Less agitation more control of self. I just don't want to experience nausea or headaches because of it later on. Thanks god bless you. AirMarshall
2700mg, umm Wow! And you want to self increase by 900mg. Holy smokes. There is no standard dosing for lithium, because everyone processes it differently. However, NO ONE on this board can tell you it is safe to play with dosing at those levels on your own. You MUST talk to your psychiatrist. 2700mg would put many people in the hospital. I increased my lithium once from 900mg to 1200 (one ER tab) and was going toxic within a few weeks. There is just a narrow margin for error with lithium dosing. You need to let the doctor make the decisions and keep tabs on your blood level. a.m.
Cetkat
This is NOT something you should be deciding on your own. Lithium toxicity is a very big deal, hence the blood tests. If you really feel like an increase is in order, get an appointment with your pdoc now, discuss it, and then have a test done to make sure you're within limits. This is not something to play around with to see what happens.
