mixednuts
Me: I have to many diagnoses for just one person, but will start with Bipolar 1, maybe mixed, my latest accepted diagnosis, fought it for years. Had 2 recent manic episodes within 6 months of each other, which made me a beliver. Now on Lamictal, which has fewer side effects and seems to be working, other things had side effects I just could not deal with. Next up is alcohol dependence, been sober over 6 weeks now feeling pretty good about that. Using SMART recovery as an alternative to AA. PTSD which really ticks me off, feel I'd be better off with out it, doing EMDR for that one. History of eating disorder, which may be rearing it's ugly head once again. And last but not least DID, because I want to share all this fun. But hey no personality disorders yet on the list, unless they have added bull headedness. Anyway I figured I can use all the help I can get and I like your style. Well that about sums up all the me I can think of for now.

Will
Welcome. AA didn't work for me. I don't know anything about SMART recovery (learning all the time), but if you are BP1 and it has helped you stop drinking, good for you. I recently visited with a pdoc (a prospective new one) who told me not to drink at all. Not even 2-3 beers a week, which was the latitude my prior current pdoc had given me. He just said alcohol is too destabilizing for bipolars.
