area99
I'm wondering if it's ok to split the branded Risperdal tablets. I'm supposed to take .25 but all I have is the .5. I know the drug distribution is not consistent in some pills. I was was wondering If splitting in half a 0.5mg will get 2 equal parts of drug? Velvet Elvis
If it's the standard release tablets (I'm not sure if there's any other kind) it should be OK. I recommend using a pill cutter made for that purpose but you can also use a sharp knife or razor blade on something like a clean dry plate. AnneMarie
My doc has me splitting the 3mg to get to the 1.5mg that I take.
Aurochs
In any standard-release tablet, the drug is supposed to be distributed uniformly. This is a legal requirement. The FDA actually does monitor this shit. Extended-release tablets are a whole other ballpark. You really shouldn't split them.
Moody
I split my generic risperdal tablets even though they dont have a score line, and have never had a problem.
